About Erotic Novels
For some time, erotic novels were considered taboo and relegated to small indie publishing houses or tucked away imprints. However, following the tremendous success of Fifty Shades of Grey, which has spawned a number of spin offs and film adaptations, erotic fiction has seen a surge in popularity. However, there is relatively little empirical research devoted to the genre, particularly on readers and the ways in which they interact with such books. Go here: snakkomsex.no
The Enchanted Affair
Our online survey of readers of erotic fiction sought to address this gap. The majority of respondents were heterosexual women in committed relationships, from a broad range of educational backgrounds and age groups. They reported that they enjoy reading erotic novels for a variety of reasons, such as pleasure, distraction and feelings of ease. We also found that erotic literature can be satisfying on multiple levels, ranging from satire and social criticism to voyeuristic, escapism and sensual pleasure.
A few examples of erotic fiction include Bared to You, which follows the relationship between two twenty-somethings who struggle with their pasts; On Dublin Street, which explores the complicated and sometimes destructive nature of love between an American ex-pat and a local Scottish man; and Emmanuelle, which tells the story of a woman’s journey through sexual self-discovery. Other popular erotic novels explore themes such as abuse, desire, and sex in the context of family or community. Moreover, the eroticism in these novels may be subtle or explicit, and it may even be a subtext of the story itself.
